4th of July Pool Party!

Heare, heare! On the day of July 4th, 1776 after signing the official Declaration of Independence and breaking away from the British Empire, US congress told the 13 colonies that they were officially free, and then exclaimed ecstatically across the barren land into the homes of the brave…

"POOL PARTY!"

Now, 37 states and 239 years later in the islands of Hawai'i, we proudly continue this tradition in honor of our freedom and forefathers.

Good ol’ Independence day, the birth of America! Other wise known as a day of cookouts, drink mixing, music, Patriotic décor, and finding the perfect outfit that fits the occasion.

So gather patriots!

3. Whats a holiday without a fancy cocktail? It’s just a regular day in case you were wondering. Here are some mixed drink ideas to stir up!. Just remember- DRINK RESPONSIBLY!

    Mojito Marinated Watermelon Slices
     http://litehousefoods.com/livinglitehouseblog/recipe/mojito-marinated-watermelon-slices/

Ingredients
15 – inch thick watermelon slices
15 chopped leaves of Fresh Mint
¼ cup sugar
4 oz. rum
2 cups mixed berries
2 limes

Directions
1. Slice the watermelon into 1" thick slices. Place in a shallow baking pan.
2. In a bowl, mix the mint, sugar and juice of two limes and muddle together
3. Add in the rum.
4. Pour the mojito mixture over the watermelon slices and let soak in the fridge for at least two hours. You can transfer the dish to the freezer for an additional hour to get extra cold before serving.
5. Before serving, top the watermelon with sliced fruit.
6. Drizzle any additional liquid over the top of the slices.

White Wine-Berry Sangria

Ingredients
1 bottle dry white wine (I used Sauvignon Blanc)
1 cup lemon-lime soda
1/2 cup raspberry vodka
1/4 cup brandy
chopped strawberries
raspberries
blueberries

Directions
In a pitcher, combine wine, soda, vodka and brandy. Put a few raspberries and a small handful of chopped strawberries into the bottom of each glass and muddle. Fill glass with ice, then top with sangria and a few blueberries. Stir.

4. Possibly the hardest decision that freedom has given us is the question: What to wear?
Luckily, we put together some Kaikini Bikini ensembles to inspire your best and brightest style.

Look #1 "Made in America": Teal Triangle Beaded Top & Teal Kai Bottoms
  • Pair a solid blue suit with a red folded bandana as a headband to add a red & white accent!

Look #2 "The Soldier": White triangle beaded top, white two string Elua bottoms
  • Freedom allows us to wear whatever we want! You don’t have to decorate in all red, white, and blue! Switch up the patriotism with some camo print and a dog tag necklace!

Look #3 "Independent Chic": Kaikini's Teal Triangle Beaded Top & Black Okole seamless bottoms, Gyspy Rain Kimono, Tats4Now Temp Tattoos
  • For a little more coverage, mix and match bikinis and pair with a chic and effortless throw on Kimono like this one made by local brand Gypsy Rain ( Ilovegypsyrain.com ) for endless pool lounging.

Tips:
  •  Don’t have American flag décor? Spray paint some stars and stripes to a white t-shirt!
  • To maximize precious pool time, pair your outfit with a large sun hat and chic sunglasses.
  •  Pour your cocktail into your hydro-flask, add some ice and it’ll stay fresh and cold all day (and you wont mix your drink up)
  • Add floral flair to your hair by braiding your hair and adding a few flowers
  • Don’t want to wear jewelry? You can still shine in some flash tattoos that sparkle in the sun
Whatever you choose to do on the day of independence, don’t forget to hydrate, apply SPF, honor your freedom, and have fun, and drink responsibly!
